Both teams came out with offensive guns firing. In the first half, Carleton Rawles and KG Gaskins each caught touchdown passes for the Tigers, while Collegiate quarterback Jake McGee led two long scoring drives. McGee ran his offense efficiently, mixing in precision passing with quarterback rollouts and draws. It looked like Woodberry would trail by 2 at halftime, until a Bo McGee interception put the ball on the 1 yard line for an easy Cougar TD. Woodberry’s offense stalled in the second half as defensive lineman Michael van Reekum continually penetrated into the backfield. Collegiate’s fast and physical team play on both sides of the ball, combined with a 5-0 turnover margin, turned out to be too much for the Tigers to overcome.
