Faculty Support and Development

Woodberry’s faculty members are dedicated to understanding how boys learn and how to help them succeed. They are fully committed to the pursuit of knowledge: 65 percent hold advanced degrees. Small class sizes ensure that our teachers can provide students with the personalized attention and in seat instruction they need to grow academically and as men of sound character. Our teachers also serve as coaches, mentors, and advisers; 95 percent live on campus, so they are available as a resource to the boys day and night.

Tuition Assistance

44 percent of boys at Woodberry Forest receive some form of need-based tuition assistance. The cost of educating each Woodberry student — thanks to small classes, dedicated faculty, and extensive academic, athletic, and extracurricular opportunities — is substantial. It is our goal to accept any qualified student who has what it takes to strengthen our community regardless of his family’s ability to finance his education. Your gift to the Amici Fund helps enable us to recruit the best and brightest boys who will benefit from all that Woodberry has to offer.

Athletics

Athletics at Woodberry helps boys grow beyond the classroom. Through sports, boys learn to work together toward a common goal, compete honorably, and conduct themselves humbly in victory and graciously in defeat. Athletics teaches lessons that help boys become men of honor.

Arts

Student artists shine at Woodberry. Whether it’s music, performing arts, or visual arts, a wide range of classes and extracurricular activities help boys stretch themselves. Woodberry has a strong commitment to making artistic expression vital to the cultural life of the school. The Walker Fine Arts Center is constantly bustling with activity and is home to all of the school’s various artistic programs and performance spaces.

Facilities

It is imperative that we properly steward Woodberry’s physical plant. Renewing and maintaining the school’s 100 buildings on 1,200 acres of land is an ongoing and costly endeavor, but one that reflects our attention to detail and our commitment to keeping the quality of life high across our community.

Honor System

The honor system is at the heart of daily life here at Woodberry. It is a unique and timeless tradition that makes this school a place where the character development of boys is just as important as their academic growth. The honor system is not a rigid set of rules, but a way of life that each member of this community buys into as they navigate their day-to-day lives. Your gift to the Amici Fund helps to ensure that the honor system will always be a fundamental part of life at Woodberry.
