Athletic Facilities at Woodberry

Woodberry is blessed with many wonderful athletic facilities, but we believe that it's the students and coaches who use these facilities every day that truly create an outstanding athletics program. We invite you to explore all of our facilities virtually or to visit them when on our boys prep school campus in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Leonard W. Dick Gymnasium

The Leonard W. Dick Gymnasium is home to our basketball program, athletic department offices, and the athletic training room. The gym is also open day and night for pickup hoops, and you can  always find someone who's ready to play with you.

Reily Wrestling Room

The Reily Wrestling Room is also located in the Dick Gym. Named for Mike Reily '60, a distinguished student, leader, and athlete who was beloved by his peers, the wresting room is home to one of the most-decorated programs in prep wrestling history. Mike Reily went on to play football at Williams College, earning All-American honors. After being diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease, Reily's football career was curtailed, but he continued to serve as a team captain at Williams during his senior year. He died in 1964, one month after his graduation from college.

Glover Fitness Center

The Glover Fitness Center, named for legendary wrestling coach Dick Glover '61, is attached to the Dick Gym. The Glover Center is home to Woodberry's strength and conditioning program and offers all community members access to weights and other fitness equipment.

Barbee Center

The Barbee Center is Woodberry's field house and home to the swimming and indoor track programs. The Barbee Center is also used by other programs during inclement weather. Woodberry's track program has enjoyed a lengthy run of success in recent years and takes full advantage of the 200-meter track, long jump pits, and pole vault area. The Barbee Center is also home to the school's natatorium, which features a 25-yard pool.

Squash Pavilion

The Squash Pavilion is home, as you'd expect, to the Woodberry forest squash team. Squash is offered as a varsity and junior varsity sport in the winter. Some players also hone their craft with the coaching staff during the fall. The pavilion is also home to a basketball court used by lower-level teams for practices.

Johnson Stadium

Johnson Stadium, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, is home to Tiger football and lacrosse. The teams play on Hanes Field at the stadium and have contested football games in this space since the 1920s. When visiting campus be sure to check out the historic football and lacrosse displays inside the stadium. The display room also offers views of the squash courts.
Woodberry Forest admits students of any race, color, sexual orientation, disability, religious belief, and national or ethnic origin to all of the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sexual orientation, disability, religious belief, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic or other school-administered programs. The school is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students.
