Tigers Earn All-State Honors in Football
Eleven 2011 Woodberry Forest School football players have earned all-state recognition. CJ Prosise ’12, Greer Martini ’14, Nate Ripper ’12, and Rogers Clark ’12 garnered first-team honors while Heys McMath ’13, Christian Asher ’14, Reid Swearingen ’12, Spencer Bibb ’14, Doug Randolph ’13, and Cameron Wooster ’12 were named second-team players. Greg McIntosh ’12 earned an honorable mention. Go Tigers!

Comments: CJ was the second Team All State Kick returner last season. He had another outstanding season and was kicked and punted away from most of the year. He returned 5 for touchdowns and set up 5 more scores by his returns getting the ball so close to our opponents end zone.

Comments: Heys consistently delivered for us this season and with the loss of most of our offensive receivers he was still able to move the ball against tough competition. His completion percentage of 75% shows his accuracy and ability. He is a very good runner, and knows how to win. He is 16 – 3 as a two year varsity starter.

Comments: Christian is a fast and physical runner who led our team in rushing this season. He is a physical blocker and runs hard. He finished the season with 5.8 yards a carry average.

Comments: Greg was a complete Tight End this season. He was a very good blocker and had excellent hands in traffic. He was unselfish enough to play offensive line last season and it helped him as a blocker this season. Greg made tough catches when it counted.

Comments: Reid is a two year starter at receiver. He is a very good route runner and the best downfield blocker we have had. His blocks accounted for several rushing touchdowns. Reid has excellent hands and was also our holder.

Comments: Spencer was a consistent and physical offensive lineman. He is a gritty hardnosed blocker who can block in space and does very well on traps. He has excellent feet and battles for the entire game.

Comments: CJ is a special player and is blessed with talent and an outstanding work ethic. As players were lost to injury this season he just carried more of the load. He scored twice on defense, 5 times on special teams and 3 times as a receiver. He was a physical tackler and was excellent in coverage. CJ was the Prep League MVP and will play for Notre Dame in 2012.

Comments: Doug is a gifted athlete who played multiple positions for us. He was mainly a defensive lineman, but also played as an OLB, CB, and Strong safety. He has an explosive first step and is an excellent pass rusher. Doug was Stanford Universities first offer for 2013.

Comments: Greer is a ball hawk and just makes plays. He is very smart and fast and diagnoses plays quickly. He has excellent ball skills and his 3 interceptions were all special plays. He also has 6 fumble recoveries in which two were returned for touchdowns. He is disciplined against the run and seldom over runs plays.

Comments: Nate was outstanding at Outside Linebacker for us this season. He is smart, physical, uses great technique and never blows an assignment. He created 5 sacks for us this season by his coverage on the back on screens. He is the complete OLB, he can play run or pass, take on blocks or play in space. He is being recruited by Navy and the Ivy League and Washington and Lee.

Comments: Rogers is a returning first team All State and All Central Virginia player. He only played in 6 games this season and still led our team in tackles for a loss and sacks. Rogers has a high motor and does not stay blocked.
