Giving Societies

For generations, Woodberry alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff have sustained the school through a shared belief in the transformative power of a Woodberry education. Woodberry’s giving societies recognize and celebrate the individuals and families whose commitment to Woodberry enhances the school’s mission and supports its continued growth and success. Together, these societies honor loyal consecutive giving, leadership annual support, and investment in the school’s future.

The Rapidan Society | Consecutive Giving of 5+ Years

Members of The Rapidan Society sustain Woodberry through their continuous annual support. Honoring donors who have given for five or more consecutive years, The Rapidan Society celebrates a steadfast commitment that strengthens the school year after year.

The Walker Society | Planned Giving

The Walker Society honors the visionary donors who preserve Woodberry’s rich traditions through planned gifts. Inspired by the enduring example of Joseph and Violet Walker’s lifelong devotion to the school, these donors are committed to sustaining the school’s legacy for generations to come.

Captains Club | Annual Leadership Giving of $5,000 or More

Captains Club recognizes donors who have made annual gifts of $5,000 or more and who, through their leadership giving, provide essential resources that advance Woodberry’s mission. Prorated, lower levels apply for young alumni and faculty and staff.

The 1889 Society | Annual Leadership Giving of $5,000+, Consecutive Giving of 10+ Years, and Planned Giving

The 1889 Society recognizes Woodberry’s most deeply committed donors whose leadership, loyalty, and foresight shape the school in enduring ways. Through a combination of leadership-level annual giving, sustained consecutive support, and planned gifts, these members embody the highest level of dedication to Woodberry’s mission today and its promise for generations to come.

Captains Club Changes Effective July 1, 2026

For many years, Captains Club donors have provided essential leadership support for Woodberry through gifts that directly sustain the school’s highest priorities.

For the first time since 2011, the Woodberry Forest Board of Trustees has voted to increase the Captains Club giving level from $2,500 to $5,000, effective July 1, 2026. This change reflects the increased cost of providing a Woodberry education and supporting the exceptional faculty and staff who know, challenge, and love the boys in our care.

The current prorated Captains Club giving levels for young alumni, faculty, and staff will remain unchanged. A new prorated giving level for alumni eleven to fifteen years from graduation is being added. The prorated giving levels are listed below and are effective July 1, 2026.

Alumni 1–5 years out $500
Alumni 6–10 years out $750
Alumni 11–15 years out $2,500
Faculty and Staff $500

Thank you for your continued belief in Woodberry Forest and for the many ways you strengthen this special community. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to the school and its future.
