Woodberry Students Celebrate with Richmond Boys and Girls Club

Nine Woodberry boys joined in the festivities last month as the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Richmond hosted its eighth annual Distinguished Leadership Awards Dinner at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.

The event honored sixteen young men and women who have grown up and flourished in Richmond-area Boys & Girls clubs. Special guests included Herman Boone, coach of the 1971 Titans, the first racially integrated football team to play at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria. Boone was played by actor Denzel Washington in the 2000 movie Remember the Titans.

The Woodberry boys, who were accompanied by faculty members Erin and Brian Hemming, participated at the invitation of Thomas N. P. Johnson III ’64, a supporter of the Boys & Girls Club.
