Reverence for Things Sacred

We encourage students at our boys' prep school to respect all religious beliefs, providing them, through their everyday lives and weekly chapel services, the values needed to live a meaningful life. Everyone is welcomed at Woodberry, and different beliefs are respected. Though every boy attends chapel services, we do not require students to adopt a particular faith or tradition.

We believe it is essential for our students to become familiar with the Bible, so all Woodberry students take a trimester-long course that covers the most important readings and themes. Woodberry boys learn to follow the Christian principles upon which the school was founded.  These values of love, kindness, compassion, respect, reverence, gentility, honesty, and humility
are also present in other world religious traditions.

Woodberry Forest admits students of any race, color, sexual orientation, disability, religious belief, and national or ethnic origin to all of the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sexual orientation, disability, religious belief, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic or other school-administered programs. The school is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students.
