Woodberry Forest Announces Appointment in Dean of Students' Office

Woodberry Forest School announces the appointment of Ryan Alexander to serve as the school's assistant dean of students and director of residential life beginning in the summer of 2017.

Ryan came to Woodberry in 2010 from the Washington, DC, area, where he worked for a nonprofit organization focusing on political, policy, and campaign consulting. A graduate of Davidson College, Ryan has also played professional football in Germany. He is currently working on an MA degree through Middlebury College's Bread Loaf School of English. Ryan teaches English and coaches football and lacrosse. He, his wife, Mandy, and their son live on Dowd House dormitory in the Class of 2009 Faculty Residence. Ryan previously lived in dorm apartments on Dowd-Finch and the Walker Building.

"I look forward to working with Ryan as he begins this important work in service to Woodberry Forest School and in support of the boys in our care," says Headmaster Byron Hulsey ’86.

Ryan succeeds Henry Heil, who has served on the faculty since 2004. He and his wife Kerrin and their three children will move to Dallas, Texas, where he will be head of upper school at Episcopal School of Dallas.
