Indoor Track Places 4th at States

Congratulations to the track team for an outstanding performance at this year’s VISAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. With 19 teams entered in the meet, Woodberry Forest fought very hard and came away with a 4th place finish.
Team Finishes: 1) Liberty Christian Academy 134.33  2) St. Christopher’s 117.83   3) Fork Union 110.0   4) Woodberry Forest 53.33 and 5) Episcopal 50.

There were many outstanding performances at the meet. The top performance of the day was from the 4x400m relay team of Eric Ways, Tripp Grant, Jonathan Yellets and Eli Exum who took home the gold medal. The state champion relay team also broke the school record with a time of 3:30.35 and was named “ALL-State”. Congratulations boys on such an amazing accomplishment.
Jonathan Yellets ran a personal best in the 300m to finish in third and earned “Honorable Mention All-State.”
Eric Way ran a personal best in the 500m to finish in third and earned “Honorable Mention All-State.”
Kevin Bennert finished in 4th place in the 1600m run.
Rue Hockensmith finished in 4th place in the shot.
Zach Wiesler ran a personal best in the 300m to earn a 5th place finish.
Eli Exum ran a personal best in the 500m to earn a 5th place finish.
Buckley Davis finished 5th in the shot put.
Mark Petrone threw a personal best in the shot put to finish in 6th place.
The 4x200m relay of Hunter Faulconer, Richard Gates, Tripp Grant and Jack Sewell finished in 6th place running their fastest time of the year.
The 4x800m relay of Hagood Grantham, Chris Wheelock, Addison Winston and Matthew Laws finished in 7th place.
Isaac Mirchandani finished in 8th place in the pole vault.
Edward Bailey finished tied for 8th place in the high jump.

There were many individual personal bests at the meet as well:
Connor Forest in the 300m, Chan Lee in the 500m, Hagood Grantham, Charlie Moore and Matthew Laws all in the 1000m, Stuart Huston and Wilson Kuhnel in the 1600m run, Addison Winston in the 3200m, Walt Whitehead in the hurdles and Lat Peak in the triple jump.
