Varsity Football Loses in OT

Woodberry Forest School

Varsity Football

Saturday October 17, 2009

Landon 28, Woodberry Forest 21 OT.

Woodberry Forest lost to Landon today in overtime at Johnson Stadium. After recovering a muffed punt on the Woodberry 20, Landon was the first team to score. Landon also managed to contain the Woodberry Forest running attack in the first quarter. The Tigers did not score until Ade Oyalowo ran for an 89 yard TD in the second quarter. In the second half, Coach Alexander rotated quarterbacks Alex Hagood and Robert Spilman. Early in the second half, Robert Spilman led the Tigers down the field before scoring on a seven yard rush. Landon, however, quickly responded with a touchdown. After both teams got touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the game went into overtime. After Landon’s Deion Wellington ran for a four yard TD, the Tigers were unable to respond, and they moved to 4-1 on the season.
