JV Football Hands St. Chris First Loss

On a cold rainy day, the jv football team was able to defeat the previously undefeated St. Chris squad 6-0.  Both defenses played well as the offenses struggled to move the ball.  Each team was able to overcome a first half turnover and head into half time tied at 0-0.  After receiving the opening kickoff in the second half, on the first play, Ade Oyalowo made a nice cut at the line of scrimmage to get to the outside and go 75 yards down the sideline before he was knock out of bounds at the 5 yard line.  Phil Rogers took the next hand off up the middle for a Woodberry touchdown.

The remainder of the game was all about defense.  The Tiger defense came up big time and time again to force the Saints to punt.  St. Chris did threaten late in the fourth quarter, but they turned the ball over on downs around the 20 yard line.  Layton Brown and Phil Rogers were the MVPs of the game.  On a day when a mistake on special teams could be very costly, Phil executed every long snap perfectly and Layton's punts continuously made St. Chris start deep in their own territory.

The Tigers' next game is Tuesday in Richmond against Benedictine.
