Woodberry swimming lost 69 – 117 to a very strong Collegiate
team. Overall the Tigers swam well and continued to see time
drops from many swimmers. Mark Peyton had another outstanding
meet. Mark posted best times while winning both the 50 free and
100 fly. Mark also teamed up with George Lane-Roberts, Harry
Stephens and Saang Lee in the 200 free relay to edge out the Collegiate
squad by .08 seconds.
The 100 free proved to be a great event today as all six Woodberry
swimmers had best times. Saang Lee won the event with a time of
51.26 while Harry, 56.86, and Gavin Forrest, 57.82, each took about a
half second off their best times while finishing 5th and 6th
respectively. Jack Joynson, 59.62, broke a minute for the first
time, while Andrew Duverney, 1:04.44, took another two seconds off his
time. Mack Keasler rounded off the event with his best time of
1:15.11. Steven Burris, 59.27, also had a personal best 100 free
time while leading off a 400 free relay.
Other best times posted today were:
Saang Lee 1:59.24 3rd in the 200 free
Mitchell Moon 30.28 in the 50 free
Mack Keasler 33.51 in the 50 free
Jack James 59.85 3rd in 100 fly
Gavin Forrest 1:07.38 5th 100 back
Brewer Matthews 1:00.90 2nd in the 100 back
I would also like to congratulate our divers CB Rice, 3rd, David
Bethel, 4th, and Jay Shelly 6th. All three are new to the sport
and will continue to improve throughout the season.
Finally, hats off to Stuart Ferguson of Collegiate for setting a new
pool record in the 100 breast with a time of 58.25. Setting a
pool record is remarkable enough, but even more impressive is the fact
that Stuart is a freshman.
