Paisley Boney ’45

Lieutenant (SG), United States Navy
The letters all open the same way, with slanted script and blue ink: Dear Mrs. Taylor. Paisley Boney III posted dozens of letters to Woodberry from Miami, Annapolis, various European ports, Korea’s Inchon Harbor, and his home in Jacksonville, Florida. Enclosed were glossy photos of him in his sailor uniform; playing third base for Navy; beneath crossed swords at his 1951 wedding to Sheldon Baldwin; and with his children, Shelley, Paisley IV, Roland, and Lisa. He never failed to send gratitude to longtime alumni secretary Mrs. Rawleigh W. D. Taylor for making his schooling at Woodberry Forest possible, saying, “It was the best thing that ever happened to me.”
