The Woodberry Forest Football Camp offers a high-energy, immersive experience for boys who love the game—whether they’re seasoned players or just getting started. Over four action-packed days, campers will sharpen their football skills, deepen their understanding of the game, and grow both as athletes and young men.

Led by Head Coach Jackson Matteo—along with Woodberry’s assistant coaches, current players, and Woodberry football alumni—the camp emphasizes individual skill development, position-specific training, and team concepts. Campers will also enjoy full access to Woodberry’s premier athletic facilities, including grass and turf fields, an indoor track and weight room, and our outdoor pool—perfect for cooling off after a hard day’s work and during the end-of-camp pool party.

At its core, the Woodberry Football Camp is about more than just X’s and O’s. Our staff is committed to using the game as a vehicle to teach character, discipline, and leadership—equipping each camper with tools that translate far beyond the field.

Jackson Matteo

Jackson Matteo is a three-time graduate of The University of Virginia, where he started 30 games on the offensive line from 2012-2016 and served as team captain in 2016. He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in higher education focusing on athletic administration; he completed a doctoral program at UVA's School of Education and defended his dissertation in the spring of 2023. Jackson was a graduate assistant coach at UVA under Bronco Mendenhall, working with the defensive backs in 2017 and the offensive line in 2018-2019. During his tenure as graduate assistant coach, Matteo helped Virginia achieve three consecutive bowl berths, winning the Atlantic Coast Conference's Coastal Division in 2019. In 2024, he led Woodberry's football team to an undefeated season, a Virginia Prep League title, and was named Sports Illustrated's Virginia Coach of the Year.

"Jackson is a tremendous leader who has had a rich football experience," said Athletic Director Matt Blundin. "He has already demonstrated his ability as a transformative coach on our campus. He sustains an infectious energy and dedicates every interaction toward developing young men of character."
