Farewell to Sue Dickson

Sue Dickson, who has served as Woodberry Forest School's horticulturist since 2006, will depart her position on August 7, 2015, to accept a position as an assistant professor at Northern Virginia Community College's Loudon campus. Sue first began her association with Woodberry in 2002 when she redesigned the landscaping of The Residence, the historic campus home built in 1793 and occupied by the school's headmasters since 1889. She later created the current design of that home's Oval Garden. She has been an active member of the Woodberry Christian Fellowship for many years.

The recipient of a BS in plant science from the University of Delaware and an MS in horticulture from Virginia Tech, Sue shared her knowledge by speaking at conferences, leading wildflower tours, and developing an internship program to mentor horticulture students from Virginia Tech. Her love for the campus and its trees, flowers, and plants is expressed in the beautiful gardens across the grounds that she designed and maintained.
