Students Attend Leadership Conference

Eight Woodberry Forest students participated in the National Association of Independent Schools Student Diversity Leadership Conference, held December 4-6, 2014, in Indianapolis. Two faculty members, Hunt Heffner and Indira Cope, both of the college counseling department, attended the People of Color Conference held in conjunction with the student conference. SDLC is described as "an inclusive, multiracial, multicultural gathering of upper school student leaders (grades 9-12) from around the country. SDLC focuses on self-reflection, allyship, and community building."

This year, students participated in sessions and heard from keynote speakers Michael Eric Dyson on "Race, Racism, and Race Relations in America" and Sonia Nazario on "Immigration and Motivation."
