Woodberry Memorial Included on WWI Website

The World War I memorial plaque that hangs in Woodberrry Forest School's St. Andrew's Chapel is included on a website published by the Tusculum Institute at Sweet Briar College. The institute's mission of "preserving the material culture of the past" has led to an effort to locate, photograph, and describe every World War I memorial in Virginia.

Woodberry's plaque was erected in 1921 and, after listing the names of those Woodberry Forest alumni who lost their lives, states, "This tablet is erected by the alumni of Woodberry Forest School in honor of their fellows who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War 1914-1918 waged in behalf of the liberation of mankind and for the preservation of righteousness and justice among men."
