Third Formers Inspired by Art in Writing Contest

Thirty-five third formers in English classes taught by Marc Hogan and Karen Broaddus traveled to Charlottesville on Monday, October 13, 2014, to participate in the 28th annual University of Virginia Writer's Eye contest. The boys toured the Fralin Museum of Art and chose works of art to inspire their own written pieces of prose or poetry to enter in the literary competition. Entries will be judged by well-known writers in the community and winning writers will be published in the museum's annual anthology. Marc, a University alum, also offered students a quick tour of Grounds, including a look at the room where Edgar Allen Poe lived when he studied at UVA.
