Cross Country Wins State Championship

The Woodberry Forest Harriers won the VISAA Cross Country Division I Championship, hosted at Woodberry on November 8, 2013. Point earners Robert Singleton ’16 (4th place; All-State; 17:14.32), co-captain Hines Liles ’14 (7th place; All-State; 17:30.62), Cameron Finley ’15 (15th place; All-State; 17:51.53), Perry Hammond ’14 (16th; All-State; 17:54.53), and co-captain Billy Osterman ’14 (34th; 18:24.47) helped the Tigers earn their first state title since 2009. The Woodberry team's score of 76 bested second-place finisher Trinity Episcopal by 29 points. Paul VI came in third with 154. This is head coach Ben Hale's seventh state championship in twenty-one coaching seasons.
