Woodberry Alum Brings Laxers from Texas

Sam Chambers '77 returned to Woodberry Forest on March 30, 2012, all the way from Houston, Texas, to pit his St. John's School lacrosse team against the Tigers. Present at Woodberry during lacrosse's early days, and going on to play at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Sam became something of a "lacrosse apostle" to Houston in the early 1980s. The Mavericks, the team he serves as head coach, offered the Tigers some tough competition on Hanes Field, but the Texans fell in the end with a score of 12-10.
