Author Ann Beattie Talks with Seniors

Author Ann Beattie visited Woodberry Forest School on January 25, 2012, to discuss the craft of writing and her own work with sixth formers. To prepare for the visit, students read four of the writer's short stories, each written during a different phase of her career.
A novelist and short story writer whose work was first published in the 1970s by The New Yorker, Ann Beattie has received numerous accolades, including a PEN/Bernard Malamud Award. Now residing in Charlottesville, Ann Beattie serves as the University of Virginia's Edgar Allan Poe Chair of the Department of English and Creative Writing.
