Chapel Service Welcomes Guest Speaker Rev. Craig Kocher

Rescheduled from its customary Sunday evening time slot so that students could enjoy Super Bowl Sunday, Monday evening’s chapel service welcomed guest speaker Rev. Craig Kocher. Rev. Kocher, a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University, is an award-winning preacher who currently serves as the University of Richmond’s chaplain. He previously served as campus minister at Davidson College and associate dean of the chapel anddDirector of religious life at Duke University.

Rev. Kocher took as his text the story from Luke in which Jesus calls his disciples. Elaborating on the theme of finding one’s vocation, Mr. Kocher reflected on the profound influence of their boarding school days on many famous men, including that most well-known boarding school student, Harry Potter. He asserted that finding one’s calling in life comes at the intersection of that which gives one joy and the needs of the surrounding community.
