Woodberry Forest 10, Episcopal High School 3.
Alexandria, VA: Woodberry eventually prevailed by a touchdown in a penalty-marred defensive slugfest. Woodberry quarterback Alex Hagood left the game after the first drive with an injury. Nevertheless, the Tigers opened the scoring, capitalizing on a blocked punt to take a 3-0 lead. The next Woodberry possession culminated with a touchdown run on a bootleg by junior quarterback Joe Miller. After that, the defenses clamped down. Ed Reynolds intercepted EHS quarterback Hunter DeButts at the very end of the first half; Reynolds’ second interception, late in the fourth quarter, essentially iced the game. Reynolds finished with143 rushing yards on the day, giving him 1314 yards on the season for an 8.5 yard per carry average. The Tigers today finished their second straight 8-1, Prep League Championship season.
