News Detail

The wrestling team finished 3rd in the Virginia Prep League tonight, behind St. Christopher's (1st) and Collegiate (2nd).

Shout outs go to: Logan Swing, Henry Sydnor, and John Winkler, who each placed 2nd in their weight classes, as well as Marc Greenberg, who finished the day 4–0 with three pins and one win by Decision (9–5). With this victory, Marc is a Prep League Champion. Marc was also voted by the VPL coaches as the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament, and is therefore considered the VPL Wrestler of the Year. This championship is worth putting into context: During his fourth-form year, in heartbreaking fashion, Marc was barely edged out of the top spot by tie-breaking criteria, even as he finished the tournament in a three-way tie of wins and losses. Then during his fifth-form year, Marc endured a season-ending knee injury that kept him from competing all year. These hardships make this championship in his final year as a Tiger all the sweeter. And one last fun fact: Marc will be added to the wall of Prep League Champions in the wrestling room, joining his father, Scott Greenberg ’91.
