Woodberry Model UN Visits the UN

Woodberry students Silas Tai '26, Jack Zou '27, Clay Hersh '29, and Christopher Na '27 traveled to New York City in January to participate in a Model UN conference. While in the city, the students stepped beyond the Model UN committee room for a rare opportunity: a tour of the United Nations headquarters and attending an active UN meeting alongside peers from other schools.

The group sat in on a live session focused on peace efforts in Somalia, giving them a firsthand look at how the organization operates in practice. Model UN faculty leader Jairo Rivera P'23 '25 noted the impact of the visit: "It was a valuable and engaging experience to witness the work of the United Nations in real time and to see how global diplomacy unfolds beyond the classroom."

The trip marks the beginning of a busy season for the Model UN team. Building on their experience in New York, the group will travel to Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., to participate in two additional conferences this winter.
