The new Julius C. Smith III '40 Sporting Clay Field and Pavilion was dedicated Friday with an invocation by Headmaster Dr. Dennis M. Campbell and remarks by Thomas J. Smith '73, the honoree's son. A substantial number of spectators gathered for the ceremeony and to watch the Woodberry Forest School skeet team shoot afterwards.

In addition to the pavillion, a five stand has been added to the school's high-low house, and the wall between them has been extended so that both facilities can be used simultaneously.

Dr. Campbell gave a short speech in which he emphasized the unique trust that the school places in the student body to allow for such a program. He also highlighted Woodberry's beautiful and spacious rural facilities, without which such a sporting clay field would not be possible.

After concluding his speech with a prayer, Mr. Julius J. Smith gave some remarks and the skeet team demonstrated its talent on the range.
