Want quality time with your son, playing sports, eating meals,
enjoying classroom activities, and outdoor time together?
Then make plans to attend the Father-Son Weekend at Woodberry Forest School, one of the nation’s leading boarding schools for boys. We’re located in central Virginia, an easy drive from Richmond, Charlottesville, and Washington, DC. 
Over the course of the weekend, you will have the opportunity to take advantage of our beautiful campus and the many clinics we offer in sports, science, art, and other fun activities. Our goal is for you and your son(s) to enjoy the weekend learning and experiencing new and exciting things, together.

With a decade at the helm, Dodie Chavez '85 has been the Director of the Father-Son Camp at Woodberry Forest while humbly serving as the Director of Planned and Capital Gifts. Under his leadership, this camp has thrived, providing fathers and their sons, including his son Teddy '23, with a unique opportunity for bonding and personal growth. Dodie's enduring commitment to creating meaningful experiences for father-son pairs shines through in every activity, ensuring that each duo leaves with cherished memories and strengthened connections. As a devoted Woodberry alumnus and father, Dodie's passion for the camp's mission is matched only by his dedication to preserving its legacy for future generations.

Joe Fischer

Joe Fischer, a dedicated educator with a background in mathematics and a naval veteran, has been a valued member of the Woodberry community. As a former naval officer, Joe brings a wealth of leadership and discipline to the camp, qualities that have been invaluable in shaping young men. With two sons, Joe has embraced the role of a father figure for many, sharing his expertise and enriching the camp experience for all father-son pairs. Whether he's teaching math, imparting valuable life lessons through coaching, or drawing from his Navy experience to instill resilience, Joe's presence at the camp has a lasting impact on participants

Matt Hastings has a special connection to Woodberry as the father of Jack '20 and Henry '24 while acting as the Director of Parent Engagement. Their experiences at the school have deepened his connection to Woodberry, driving his dedication to creating memorable experiences for fathers and sons at the camp. Matt's involvement in the camp goes beyond his role as a coach and mentor; it's a testament to Woodberry's profound impact on his family. His unwavering commitment to fostering meaningful father-son relationships continues to make the camp a place where lifelong memories are forged.
