    Bailey serves as lead French teacher at Woodberry after spending two years as the sole French teacher at Westmoreland High School in Montross, Virginia, where she spearheaded the creation of dual-enrollment French courses and also served as a discipline dean. She earned a B.A. in French from Virginia Tech in 2015 and, after teaching French for two years in Tappahannock and Roanoke, returned to Blacksburg for an M.A. in French, which she completed in 2019. Bailey lives on B dorm.

    Joe Fischer, who holds the Lawrence Lewis Jr. '37 Chair, teaches math, and coaches senior golf and varsity swimming. Before coming to Woodberry Forest in 2001, he earned a BS in math from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. He served eight years as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy, including three years as a naval flight officer, and taught at the US Naval Academy Prep School and St. George’s School.  Mr. Fischer and his wife, Corey, the director of college counseling at Fredericksburg Academy, live in the '94 Duplex West and are the parents of two sons, Scott and Steven '14.

    Will Fletcher '06 serves on the development team as a capital gifts officer. He received his BA degree from Roanoke College and a MEd from Vanderbilt University in Independent School Leadership. Most recently Will served as the director of enrollment management at St. Martin's Episcopal School in Metairie, LA.  Prior to St. Martin's, he served as the assistant director of admission at McCallie in Chattanooga, TN. Will and his wife, Casey and their two children live in Orange, VA.

    Carolyn Friedlander serves as a research and information services librarian and assistant director of the William H. White Library. She earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University and a master’s degree in library science from the Pratt Institute in New York. Carolyn came to Woodberry from the Hutchison School, a girls’ school in Memphis, where she served as director of libraries for the middle and upper school. She and her husband, Benjamin Friedlander, live in the Assistant Dairyman’s Cottage.
