    Bio
     
    Matt Hastings is Woodberry's director of parent engagement, a role he's held since 2019. Before joining the faculty he spent twenty-five years in the financial industry, including a decade as the principal of two commodities trading funds that he founded. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Virginia. Matt and his wife, Sarah-Hamlin Hastings, an artist and designer, make their home in Charleston, South Carolina. The Hastings are the parents of four sons, including Jack '20 and Henry '24.

    Bio
     
    David Hawkins serves as Woodberry's director of parent engagement, arriving with over 15 years of experience in the advancement and education fields, including roles at The Kreeger Museum and James Madison’s Montpelier. He was introduced to Woodberry as a faculty member with the visual arts department in 2024, and was immediately drawn in by the exceptional quality of the student experience, the facilities, and the tremendous sense of community.

    After graduating from The Potomac School (‘01) and Middlebury College (‘05), David studied art in London, New Orleans, and Philadelphia, culminating in a MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. David resides in Charlottesville with his wife Robin, his son Calder, and his daughter Elle.
