The Talon Earns Top Honors

The editors of The Talon, Woodberry Forest's literary art magazine, earned All-Columbia Honors in Design and a Gold Medalist critique from the judges of the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for the fall and spring issues of the 2012-13 school year.  Results included a perfect score for poetry content. The judges specifically praised Sterling Street's "Acrophobia in Arizona" and Anna Grey Hogan's "The Jelly Bean Rule" from the fall 2012 issue and Peter Shelton's "Kingdom Come" from the spring 2013 issue.

The Talon editorial staff last year included: Editors-in-Chief Connor Forrest '13 and Peter Shelton '13; Design Editor Anna Grey Hogan '14; Junior Editors Kiefer McDowell '14, Sterling Street '14, Davis Teague '14, and Eric Ways '14; and Editorial Assistants Alec Campbell '15 and Cole Scherer '15. Faculty advisers in 2012-13 were Karen and Rich Broaddus and Ryan Alexander.
