Weekend Results 1/9/14 - 1/10/14

  • This past weekend the Woodberry Forest wrestling team traveled to Landon HS on Friday for a tri meet with Landon and Georgetown Prep, and then on Saturday faced off against some of the top ranked teams in the state at the Mountain View Duals.  There were many highlights from individuals on the weekend and the students wrestled very well against some top competition.  I could not be more proud of the efforts of all of the team members, and we look forward to having our first home competition this Friday night in the Reily wrestling room at 6pm.
  • Jared Engh had the best weekend overall of any Tiger, going 6-0 and wrestled (and won against) one of the top ranked public school contenders in the state of Virginia, winning a very close 6-4 decision
  • Shane Maryk went 5-1, his only loss in overtime on Saturday.
  • Will Medick finished up 3-3 on the weekend, and wrestled the #1 ranked contender in the state @126
  • Andrew Holmes went 3-3 overall
  • Roy Toston got a big win against a tough opponent from Spotsylvania HS, a 7-3 decision
  • James Forbes got his first pin of the season!
  • Darby Henagan had another great weekend as well, going 5-0 on the weekend, wrestled tough and won some very close matches, a couple of 10-8 decisions on Saturday
  • DeTrea Smith was brought up to varsity this past week and did not disappoint, winning his one match on Saturday by pinning his opponent in the first period.
