Varsity Tennis - WFS Invitational Second Day Results

It takes a village to put on the two day Woodberry Invitational. I knew we could pull it off when a short  rain storm hit at 7:30 in the morning and John Thiel, Mark May and Hamilton Boggs were helping squegee 10 minutes later. Less than two hours later we were putting our championship matches on dry courts.

Woodberry finished a quality effort with two championships on the second day. Rob Galloway rallied in both sets to win 7-5, 6-4 at number 5 singles. Tom Ellington and Billy Hereford had another outstanding effort as they beat a team from McDonogh School 10-2 in the finals at number 3 doubles. Daniel Holst, Sam Mikell, and Billy Hereford also had singles victories to solidify a third place finish with 38 points.

I would also like to thank Cary Amberger who has been so helpful over the years in preparing the individual draws for the tournament. The gym crew, Kurt Hiester, the maintenance crew, Lois Tanner, I could go on forever. Please realize how much I appreciate your efforts in helping Woodberry host such an event.
