Wrestling Scores for the Weekend of 1/18 and 1/19
The Tigers competed in seven matches this weekend. On Friday we traveled to Richmond to wrestle in a quad at Douglas Freeman High School. The Tigers handily defeated an inexperienced Maggie Walker School 81-0 with a tough win from Will Sutherland and pins from Will Csorba, Jack Laub, Michael Adams, Chris Cirenza, Jonny Fitzsimons, Wilson Maclin, and Luke Schwartz. The Tigers then defeated tougher Clover Hill team 73-0. Jack Laub, Drew Middleditch, Ford Schwing, and Will Sutherland each had close victories while James Pebbles, Duke Pickett, Bobby Burg, Chris Cirenza, Jonny Fitzsimons, Wilson Maclin, and Luke Schwatrz each had pins. In our last match on Friday night the Tigers lost a disappointing match to longtime rival Douglas Freeman 28-41. Duke Picket, Bobby Burg, Chris Cirenza, and Ford Schwing all had solid wins against Douglas Freeman.
On Saturday the Tigers wrestled at home against four opponents. In the first match on Saturday Woodberry defeated Prep League rival FUMA 67-12. Next the Tigers faced another Prep League team defeating Collegiate 65-9 where Drew Middleditch, Ford Schwing, Jonny Fitzsimons, Wilson Maclin each picked up pins. Woodberry then competed against Thomas Jefferson from Northern Virginia. The Tigers prevailed 48-24 with James Peebles, Bobby Burg, and Chris Cirenza each picked up very close wins against tough opponents. In the final match of the day Woodberry defeated Randolph Macon Academy 66-6. Ford Schwing and Will Sutherland each had very nice wins against tough opponents.
On the weekend James Peebles, Duke Pickett, Bobby Burg, and Ford Schwing were each 7-0. While Wilson Maclin, Ford Schwing, Jonny Fitzsimons, Luke Schwartz, and Drew Middleditch were each 6-1.
The Tigers travel to Baltimore this Saturday to compete in the Gilman Duals.
