Summary

Your JV Squash Tigers traveled to Wakefield School Friday to play visiting Mercersburg Academy JV on neutral territory. They won 5-4. Congratulate these boys!

Close matches lasted a long, long time, and yet the Tigers played carefully, intensely, even thoughtfully to come away with the win. Mercersburg has a deep bench...but as we discovered, so do we. Jay Bhimjiani played and won the deciding match under lots of pressure. Both Rienat Kharlan and Finn Jarvi played five-game matches that could have gone either way except for those boys' determination. And Dan Batten and Carter Walker applied in the match what they had carefully trained to do in practice: adopt a winner's mindset, stick to a game plan, and play the high-percentage shots while you wait for the right moment to go on the attack.

Mercersburg's players were no slackers, so no shade on Bates Johnston, Thomas Fang, Daniel Tu, and Fenn Johnston, all of whom did the Tigers proud. The Mercersburg coach's parting words were a gentleman's version of "We want a rematch."
