Wrestlers Compete Against AA Opponents

The Woodberry Tiger Wrestling Team competed at Orange High School on Friday night against AA opponents Handley High School, Sherando High School, Monticello High School, and William Monroe High School.  In the opening match against Handley the Tigers won convincingly 65-12 with pins from Duke Pickett, Drew Middleditch, Chris Cirenza, Ford Schwing, Will Sutherland, Jonny Fitzsimons, Luke Schwartz, and T. Moore Evins.  The Tigers then lost a close match to  a tough Sherando team.  Duke Picket beat Sherando's 112 lb wrestler 3-1 who is the #5 ranked 112 in the AA State Rankings.  At the end of the match Jonny Fitzsimons pulled Woodberry within 2 points however Wilson Maclin lost a very hard fought match to a strong opponent 4-6 and the Tigers ended up losing 33-38.  Woodberry then rebounded beating Monticello high School 52-18 and William Monroe 78-6.  Duke Pickett, Bobby Burg, Chris Cirenza, and T. Moore Evins were all 4-0 on the evening.
