Salinger-Inspired Movie to be Filmed at Woodberry Forest
Scenes from the independent film, Coming Through the Rye, will be filmed on location at Woodberry Forest School in late October and early November, 2014.
"We agreed to partner with the filmmakers on this project because they are enthusiastic about making it a special educational opportunity for Woodberry Forest," said Headmaster Byron Hulsey ’86. "They will involve students and other members of the community in the film — as actors, extras, and students of the filmmaking process and of Catcher in the Rye, the classic coming-of-age story that inspired the movie."
The film is based on the real-life experiences of James Sadwith, its screenwriter, producer, and Emmy-winning director, who, as a youngster attended a New England boarding school. J.D. Salinger will be played by Academy Award winner Chris Cooper.
James Sadwith and members of the production team were on campus on Sunday, October 6, 2014, to hear auditions from students, faculty, and community members.
