Sophomores Host Special Olympics Event

Woodberry's fourth formers hosted over 200 athletes and their families, friends, caregivers, and coaches on Sunday, May 4, 2014, when Special Olympics Virginia held its Woodberry Forest Sports Festival on campus. Boys timed swimmers and runners, caddied for golfers, umpired softball games, ran games of bocce, parked cars, and cooked lunch as part of their fourth form service day.

"Guys went out, took charge, engaged the athletes, and had a blast," said Henry Heil, Woodberry's assistant dean of students and event organizer. "They played with, laughed with, and got to know the athletes. Everyone had fun and everyone should be proud of the smiles that lingered on faces as cars and buses left campus that afternoon."
