Woodberry Tests Fire Suppression System

Water from Robertson Lake, built in 2010 to provide recreation, sustainable irrigation, and fire suppression, was used on Sunday, May 4, 2014, in a training exercise involving the removal of the Kube House near the school's entrance on Highway 15. The Madison County Volunteer Fire Department performed the controlled burn and extinguished the fire. "The training exercise not only benefited the MVFD, but it also gave Woodberry a chance to test its new emergency hydrant that taps the 28,000,000 gallons of water impounded by Robertson Lake and provided by our newly installed irrigation system," said Bruce Tibbets, Woodberry's facilities director. The hydrant, located near the Dick Gymnasium parking lot, delivers 2,000 gallons per minute, and is always available for emergency use.
