Woodberry English Teacher Wins Discovered Voices Award

Ben Hale recently won the 2010 Discovered Voices Award for his short story "Ruth." The story, published in the fiction edition of Iron Horse Review, was submitted to the competition by the director of the Rainier Writing Workshop, a three-year MFA program in Washington state. Ben is submitting his thesis, a collection of linked stories, this week and will graduate in August.

Ben graduated from Washington and Lee University and has an MA from Middlebury College. Since 1992, he has been at Woodberry Forest School, where he teaches fifth- and sixth-form English and coaches cross country and track.
