Duke Pickett wins All-American honors at Fila Juniors

On the weekend of April 9-10, 2011, wrestler Duke Pickett ’11 of Culpeper, Virginia, won All-American honors by placing eighth of fifty-five competitors at his weight (70kg) at the Fila Junior National Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. Fila Juniors is the national championship of freestyle wrestling for competitors born after 1990, and the vast majority of the participants are college athletes who have had the benefit of a red-shirt year or used a year of eligibility. Virtually all of the top 20 ranked division 1 programs sent coaches and athletes to participate. Placement has qualified Duke for the Junior World Team Trials, a qualifier for Junior Worlds, the World's second hardest tournament. Duke was one of only two wrestlers from Virginia to place at this elite tournament.
