JV Squash Suffers Losses at Tri-Match

On Saturday the JV squash team traveled to Episcopal for a tri-match against the Maroon and St. Andrew’s School of Delaware. In the first match, Episcopal’s strength proved to be too much for the Tigers in an 8-1 defeat. Isaiah Brown preserved a measure of pride for Woodberry with a victory at #8. He did so in spectacular fashion, winning the fourth game of the match 21-19, the longest game of the season for the team. Whit Hobbs also won an exhibition match, vanquishing his opponent in five games.

Against St. Andrew’s, the team lost the closest of matches, 5-4. The Saints’ strength at the top proved to be too much for Woodberry as they swept the top four seeds. But Campbell Hallett, Edward Stewart, Isaiah Brown, and Richard Hunt all won – Stewart and Hunt in five games – and the contest wasn’t decided until the final match came off the court. David Sloan also won an exhibition match, grinding out a 13-11 victory in the fourth game.

The team resumes its schedule on Tuesday Feb. 15 with a match at Potomac.
