History department chair Fred Jordan is a new member of the selection committee for the Organization of American Historians’ Mary K. Bonsteel Tachau Teacher of the Year Award, which honors an outstanding teacher of history or social studies at the pre-college level. He will chair the committee in the final year of his three-year assignment.
Dr. Jordan has also begun a four-year term as assistant chief reader for the U.S. History Advanced Placement Exam. This is a position previously held by Nat Jobe, who retired from the faculty several years ago.
Dr. Jordan, the J. Sargeant Reynolds '54 Chair of Government, is a graduate of Swarthmore College. He earned his M.A. from the State University of New York and his doctorate from the University of Notre Dame.
