A. Colquitt Shackelford, Jr. Senior Master's Award was established by the faculty and staff upon Mr. Shackelford's retirement after forty-one years on the Woodberry Forest faculty. This award recognizes any member of the school community who in the Senior Master's view has provided a special service to the community.

Frank Hawkins Kenan Medal for leadership and outstanding achievement in academics, athletics and the fine arts is in honor of Frank Hawkins Kenan, a 1931 graduate of WFS. Mr. Kenan was the Sr. Prefect and received the Archer Christian Memorial Medal.
Adlai Travis Mast IV
Frank S. Walker Award is given to that member of the staff who has given most unselfishly in the performance of his or her duties, thus perpetuating the spirit of Woodberry as exemplified by Frank S. Walker '03, who served as president of the Woodberry Forest Corporation and chairman of the Trustee's Executive Committee for 36 years.

George R. O'Connor Prize for Excellence in Teaching is presented to a faculty member who during the school year has combined excellence in teaching or coaching with other unusual service to the school. Each year, classes that have been out of Woodberry for one year and for five years cast nominating ballots for this award. The prize is in honor of George R. O'Connor, Class of 1970.

Johnny Mercer Medal was established in memory of the legendary composer, musician and member of the WFS class of 1927 by the Johnny Mercer Foundation, is awared to the 6th former who has made the most significant contribution in the area of music.
Jonathan William Andrew Clifton
Mrs. J. Carter Walker Medal, endowed by an alumnus, creates a memorial to one of the most outstanding women in the life of the school. As the wife of the first headmaster, she assisted, as so many of our spouses do, with the growth and development of the school in the broadest sense. This award is made to that member of the student body who has shown the most significant improvement during his years at WFS.
Bradford James Manning
Robin W.A. Bredin Memorial Award is presented to the member of the 6th form who combines unselfish service to others with an interest in a variety of extracurricular activities. This awards was established by Mr. Bredin's colleagues and students upon his untimely death at WFS on March 30, 1979. He came to WFS in 1968, where he taught for 11 years. He taught Latin, Greek, Russian, and French; he coached soccer and volleyball; he served as dorm master on C Dorm, and he organized countless ski trips and theater trips to Washington.
Theodore DuBose Bratton, Jr.
Service Memorial Medal - This medal memorializes the 11 WFS boys who lost their lives serving their country in WWI and is awared to the member of the graduating class who is most proficient in scholarship and athletics. To qualify for this award the student must be in the top quarter of his class and be an outstanding participant in varsity athletics.

Vivian Slaughter Memorial Medal - Vivian Slaughter 1897, was killed in World War I. The medal is given to that member of the 6th form who in his years at WFS, has excelled in scholarship and has distinguished himself in voluntary activity of a creative, intellectual nature.
John Daniel Baker III
William B. Mason Memorial Medal is presented by the Mason family in memory of Billy Mason, one of the outstanding athletes in 1933, who was lost during naval operations in World War II. It is awarded to the best all-around athlete in the 6th form.
Conner Gray Gentil
William Campbell Arnold, Jr. Memorial Award is presented in honor of Bill Arnold, Class of 1969, who lost his life playing football at the Universtiy of North Carolina in September, 1971. This award is given to that member of the 6th form who best exemplifies Bill's traits of character, leadership enthusisatic participation in athletics, and unselfish concern for others, promotes the spirit of congeniality and love of life in the WFS community.
Alexander Ramsay Strange
William M. Hahn Memorial Award is awarded to the member of the graduating class who has made the most significant contribution to the community by his exemplary voluntary service work. This award is in memory of William M. Hahn, Class of 1968, who died shortly after graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

Woodberry Forest School is an exceptional private school community for high school boys in grades nine through twelve. It is one of the top boarding schools in the United States and one of the only all-boys, all-boarding schools in the country.
