    Ben Hale teaches English and serves as head varsity cross country coach and assistant varsity track coach. He holds the Robert F. Vasquez Chair. Before coming to Woodberry in 1992, he worked in school administration and taught at the college and secondary levels. He earned a BA from Washington and Lee University, an MA from Middlebury College, and an MFA from the Rainier Writing Workshop at Pacific Lutheran University. Mr. Hale leads Woodberry’s student conservation committee and coordinates Woodberry’s South Africa exchange. He lives in the Old Schoolhouse.

    Bio
     
    Marc Hogan, who holds the Arthur Latham Chair, teaches English, and serves as head coach of the varsity golf team. He came to Woodberry in 1987 after earning his BA and MA from the University of Virginia. In 2002-03 Mr. Hogan and his family spent a year in Norway under the auspices of the Fulbright teacher exchange program.

    From 2016-2020 he served as the chair of the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association's golf championship committee.In 2020, Mr. Hogan was elected to the Central Virginia chapter of the Fulbright Association Board. The purpose of the board is to support international Fulbright grantees in the area, to educate US teachers and students about the Fulbright Program, and to continue the mission of the late Senator J. William Fulbright to foster greater understanding among people of all cultures and backgrounds. 

    He lives in the Rapp House with his wife Linda, who works in Culpeper for the Association of Social Work Boards and is an accomplished photographer. They have three daughters: Miranda, Anna Grey ’14, and Cordelia ’17.
