An exceptional boarding school community for boys in grades nine through twelve.

FIFTH-FORM YEAR

The fifth-form year is when the college process really takes off. In September and October, you will have the chance to meet with admissions representatives on Woodberry’s campus. You will also take the PSAT for the last time. In February, you will take part in a required workshop with admission officers from colleges and universities. During the winter you will take the SAT and/or ACT for the first time. Considering paying the extra fee to receive a copy of your test booklet and results since this can help you focus your continued test preparation. We strongly recommend that students take the SAT or the ACT a second time in the spring. Remember that the school year is generally packed with activity and seniors, especially those who are involved with the play or with athletic teams, have very little time to get away from campus to visit colleges – long winter weekend, spring break, and summer are the best time to get to college campuses.

In the winter, you and your counselor will develop your preliminary list of colleges. This initial list will give you a good foundation from which to build. Expect to be busy during the summer between the junior and senior year.  Visit college campuses and finish community service hours. We also encourage you to come back to campus with most of your applications completed and welcome questions over the summer months. In addition, those of you interested in pursuing athletics, arts, theatre, merit scholarships should do the bulk of the preparation over the summer. Woodberry offers SAT test prep during the winter and spring trimesters.
