Three Tigers Make Collegiate Athletic Commitments

Two Woodberry lacrosse players and one golfer finalized their plans Monday to play in college. Ian Weinberg, a sixth former from Naples, Florida, will attend Monmouth University next year and play lacrosse. Clayton Astore of Herndon, Virginia, will play lacrosse at Christopher Newport University.
“This is the end result of a lot of hard work, both as part of a team and individually,” lacrosse coach Spotty Robins ’04 said during the signing ceremony. “In another way, this is just the beginning of a lot of hard work.”

Andrew Jacobs, a sixth former from Leesburg, Virginia, signed a letter of intent to play golf at the University of Delaware. Golf coach Marc Hogan noted that Andrew is a two-time All-Prep and All-State golfer at Woodberry. “I think Andrew models everything we hope Woodberry boys will be — great students, great athletes, and great people.”

Several other sixth formers are also expecting to play collegiate sports and will finalize their plans and sign letters of intent later this academic year.
