Amici Fund Reaches New Heights

A special thank you to all alumni, parents, and friends who made the 2016-2017 Amici Fund, which ended on June 30, 2017, a tremendous success. The Woodberry Forest community set a number of records this year by raising $3,595,804.

Woodberry alumni reached new heights in both participation and overall dollars this fiscal year. Alumni participation soared to an all-time high of 62%, a sign that our alumni community continues to show an unparalleled commitment to the school. We’re especially thankful for the hard work our growing network of over 450 alumni and parent volunteers across the country and to our Amici Fund National Committee for their leadership throughout the course of the year.

The cornerstone of the Amici year was OneWoodberry. The one-day giving initiative galvanized many of our alumni to make a gift. We are grateful to the exceptional donors, Bill Caler ’63, the Amici Fund National Committee Chairman, and Lane Britain ’96, Richard Wright ’96, Jonathan Gould ’94, Chuck Honey ’89, Christopher Aldredge ’90, David Lawson ’85, and Gordon Kolb ’98, who collectively provided the matching gifts totaling $150,000. OneWoodberry far surpassed its goal, ultimately raising $1,194,582 from 2,574 donors by days end.

Parents of current Woodberry students were immensely generous as well, contributing $385,298 with 89% giving in support of their son and the Woodberry experience.

Amici dollars provide important funding for our students and faculty, supporting our key priorities such as tuition assistance, faculty recruitment and growth, classroom opportunities, athletics, fine arts, and extracurricular activities.
