Alumni Welcomed to Reunion Weekend

More than 600 alumni and guests spent the weekend of April 21-23, 2017, at Woodberry Forest School to enjoy Reunion Weekend. Old boys representing classes from 1947 to 2012 returned to see how their school has changed and how it has remained the same.

The Class of 1967 enjoyed touring the construction site in the Walker Building, where they saw the new library space as well as the future Class of 1967 Computer Lab, supported by their fiftieth reunion class gift. They, along with members of the Old Guard classes, participated in a panel with current members of the sixth form.

Despite rainy weather, many events went on as planned. The classes of 1997, 2002, 2007, and 2012 enjoyed barbecue under a tent at Robertson Lake, while other dinners were held in locations around campus. Richard Barnhardt ’66 gave a presentation on Woodberry history to a standing-room-only crowd. And a soccer match in Johnson Stadium, in which alums, faculty members, and students took part, went as planned.

The weekend closed with a talk from former headmaster A. Baker Duncan ’45 in Brown Lecture Hall, and a chapel service in St. Andrew's Chapel with Rev. Dr. Charles Foss ’67.

The successful event, presented by Woodberry's alumni and development office, was summed up by one member of the Class of 1967: "This is in the top five of the most enjoyable weekends of my lifetime."
