Ten Tigers Compete in Physics Tournament

Students in Woodberry Forest School's course Research Physics traveled to Philadelphia on January 27-29, 2017, to compete in the 2017 US Invitational Young Physicists Tournament. Teams discuss solutions to four official problems in a debate-like format known as a "physics fight."

"The team represented Woodberry Forest outstandingly well," says teacher Erik Born. "They demonstrated not only a deep understanding of physics, but also some of the best communication and presentation skills seen at the tournament. Woodberry's ten team members spent the weekend deep into the physics of these problems and had an opportunity to work at a high level with the best science students from some top-tier schools around the world."

This year's tournament was the tenth such competition hosted by the The United States Association for Young Physicists Tournaments (USAYPT).
Woodberry Forest School has sent a team annually to the tournament.
