Woodberry Golfers Win State Tournament

The Tigers won their fourth VISAA golf championship Monday at Meadowbrook Country Club by four shots over the favorite, No. 1-ranked St. Christopher's.

All of Woodberry’s players shot well, with sixth former Andrew Jacobs leading the way. He finished the day with a one-under-par 70 to earn co-medalist honors. Andrew also earned co-Player of the Year and All-State. He will attend the University of Delaware next year to play golf.

Both Captain Woodson Smith, who shot a 73, and third former Benny Haggin, with a 74, also earned All-State honors. Fourth former Luke McNabb rounded out the scoring with a 76.

Head Golf Coach Marc Hogan was named the VISAA Coach of the Year.
